Ural Population Project
The main aim of the project is to study ethno-confessional and demographic processes in the Urals and Scandinavia, socio-economic and political transformation of the society, its welfare, migration flows and other demographic factors as well as the mechanisms of religious and ethnic identity maintenance.
We are creating an electronic resource UraPP (Ural Population Project) a database containing personal information extracted from the Perm and Tobol’sk provinces early population censuses (Revizskie skazki’), vital events registers (Metricheskie knigi) and other sources with nominative data. The resource will allow the use of computer methods for big data analyses.
The UraPP DB will expand the research capabilities and research fields including medicine, gerontology, social adaptation etc.; semi-automated record linkage methods, family reconstitutions and eventually to trace the individuals, families and communities in time and space. It will also allow comparative analyses.
The UraPP DB will be eventually available to genealogists and the wide public.
